Righteousness vs. The Law (Part 2)

Author: Creflo Dollar

Summary

Grace doesn’t excuse us from doing what we know we should do to live a life of faith. When we take time to spend with God, He teaches us how to relate to Him. This is part of the inheritance of the righteous (those in right standing with Him). As Believers, we are made righteous by faith. In other words, we trust in God’s ability and empowerment, not our own. We live under grace, not by the law.

  1. Under grace, we are changed by God. He changes our desires, making us lose the desire to sin (Hebrews 8:6-13).
    1. Sin (Satan) can no longer control us (Romans 6:14-23).
      1. Therefore, poverty, sickness, lack, and fear can no longer dominate us because of God’s grace.
        1. We can allow ourselves to be defeated by trying to keep the law and trusting in our own efforts.
    2. God helps those who know they need Him, not those who try to be their own god (Hebrews 8:11).
      1. When we spend time with Him—studying His Word, meditating on His Word, praying and worshipping Him—he teaches us how to have a relationship with Him.
      2. Therefore, the grace message should not be used as an excuse to neglect our time with God.
      3. Grace shouldn’t be used as an excuse to ignore His Word.
      4. However, in our time with Him we depend upon His empowerment to help us, not our own abilities.
